Queensland Canoeing Incorporated is the state sports peak body for canoeing and kayaking. The organisation is responsible for the management and development of sport, events, clubs, recreation and education related to kayaking and canoeing. The organisation is conveniently located in the sports precinct of the Queensland Athletics and Sports Centre, formally known as ANZ Stadium
Queensland Canoeing is the industry leading, state sports body for canoeing and kayaking, providing a large variety of goods and services to members, clubs, industry and the community. The organisation has a clear goal of increasing participation in the sport and recreation sector. Canoeing and kayaking is a diverse activity with 6 competitive disciplines in addition to recreation/sea kayaking and education. The organisation has many exciting innovations and projects underway, providing the incumbent an ever changing landscape of events and activities.
The Position
The Executive Officer of Queensland Canoeing is a position of visibility and business development. The many sports disciplines are evolving and growing with increasing exposure and profile. The Executive Officer leads a team of 4 staff and 28+ Instructors and coaches. The key responsibilities are:
The Executive Officer’s duties include, but are not limited to:
· Ensuring effective and motivated management
· Providing leadership to all employees
· Financial Management of the chart of accounts
· Liaising with all affiliated clubs, members, interested stakeholders and relevant industry and governmental bodies
· Attendance at key events and meetings of the sport
· Using the Executive Officer’s best endeavours to promote and enhance the interests, welfare, business, profitability, growth and reputation of QC
· Preparation of grants and funding submissions
· Expanding and developing QC;
· Implementing the Operational Plan and strategies as determined by the Board of QC;
· The Executive Officer shall report to and be accountable to the Board of QC and comply with all reasonable and lawful directions of the Board of QC from time to time.
To be considered for this role you will be a highly skilled communicator with the ability to prioritise and negotiate complex issues and deliver outcomes which achieve the Board’s objectives. You will be an inspirational executive and possess clearly recognisable business skills. The Executive Officer will be a manager with the ability to lead Queensland Canoeing and enhance the relationships with all key stakeholders. Some weekend and out of hours work is expected in this role.
